Fifth Street, 1993, Tobin Sprout, American b. 1955, 42 x 32 inches, oil on canvas, $29,400 – 2018 listed large photorealism from Tobin Sprout shows a deserted street corner surrounded by downtown buildings in Dayton, Ohio. A large cigarette billboard is over exposed in light with a prominent flag theme and giant, legible warning. Reflected light baths corner in fluorescence, evocative of Edward Hopper urban night scenes of the mid-century. Gas Tanks (1998) 38"x36" oil on canvas by Tobin Sprout

Gas Tanks, 1998, Tobin Sprout, American b. 1955, 38 x 36 inches, oil on canvas, $28,500 – These portraits of a motley assembly of disembodied motorcycle gas tanks continues Sprout’s exploration and fascination with the beauty and impermanence of 20th Century industrial design. An atypical painting in the series of Sprout’s “Superchrome” oversize photorealism,” “Gas Tanks” from 1999 is less sparkle, more tonal and meditative. The composition moves neatly towards a balanced abstraction of similar but different forms. A beauty of artistic observation. All major paintings include provenance and certification of authenticity by Flood Content. Request advance documentation for this image here.

White Villa (1992) 40"x60" oil on canvas by Tobin Sprout, $11,000

Mall Doors (1999) 36"x35" oil on canvas by Tobin Sprout, $8500

Mall Doors, 1999, Tobin Sprout, American b. 1955, 36 x 35 inches, oil on canvas, $25,500 – A rare technical anomaly shows a ghosted image of the painter’s wife, Laura, and young son, Turner, exiting the open mall door on the left. Sprout rarely changes direction after a painting has started, making this a one of a kind of the “Superchrome” series.
Of 40-50 Superchromes painted from the early 1990s through the early 2000s, just three remain available to the public. This is one of the last three, including “White Villa,” “Gas Tanks,” and “Mall Doors.” All major paintings include provenance and certification of authenticity by Flood Content.
